Long-time Daiwa fans will recognise the MAVERICK name and colours, a throwback to the days of old, the new MAVERICK MQ is a brand-new saltwater spinning reel with the potential to turn heads, not only with its bold looks but also with what’s under the bonnet. Sporting a Monocoque (MQ) aluminium one-piece body provides

MAVERICK MQ with the building blocks of what makes this reel unique and truly special. Inside the MQ body sits a G1 Duralumin drive gear, the same exact gear set that is found in the world-renowned 20 SALTIGA and 21 CERTATE SW. This large diameter, G1 drive gear gives MAVERICK MQ unmatched power and strength for its class and pushes the boundaries on giving anglers more affordable options to tackle the world’s largest predators.

The high-spec features don’t end there, with MAVERICK MQ also sporting both a MAGSEAL body and MAGSEAL ball bearing equipped line roller for ultimate saltwater durability. Daiwa’s MAGSEAL is the perfect way to seal a reel’s internal components from damaging saltwater ingress.

A one-piece seamless airbail directs line into the roller for troublefree usage and is installed on Daiwa’s ZAION Air Rotor, a highly stiff and rigid carbon composite material which is lightweight for low inertia start up but incredibly strong to withstand heavy drag settings. MAVERICK MQ is equipped with an aluminium ball knob for comfort and comes in a range of both XH and H gear ratios to suit both topwater lure casting and deep water jigging alike.

MAVERICK MQ is available in 8000-20000 sizes and will be a perfect accompaniment to Daiwa’s range of DEMON BLOOD rods, a popular choice amongst keen saltwater anglers.

Features:

G1 DURALUMIN DRIVE GEAR
The larger diameter drive gear. Increasing the diameter by 12% and also increasing thickness reduces the amount of wear, including twist and deformation to both the drive & pinion gears. In comparison to 15 Saltiga, it is more than double the strength. New gear design combined with MQ body makes 20 Saltiga the pinnacle of saltwater spinning reels.

ABS-LONGCAST 
Compared to conventional spools, the LC-ABS has been shown to increase the average flight distance by approx. 5% due to its reduced weight and modified shape.

AIR-BAIL
Daiwa’s innovative bail design features a hollow tubular stainless steel bail that delivers maximum rigidity and strength with minimum weight. Featuring a smooth protrusion-free design and construction line easily slides unencumbered along the Air Bail towards the line roller for trouble free line control.

AIR-ROTOR
Lighter, stronger and more balanced than any rotor system that’s come before, ‘Air Rotor’ delivers a great leap forward in rotor design and function and delivers the ultimate line roller support. Made from Zaion and featuring a redesigned arch that disperses pressure to the lower section of the rotor to reduce stressing and flexing, the design is further enhanced with a hollowed out construction reducing weight, while increasing reel sensitivity and rotational balance.

ATD-DRAG
Daiwa’s Automatic Tournament Drag uses an improved drag grease that exhibits a low viscosity at rest, yet becomes more viscous immediately after drag start up. This reduces initial drag start-up inertia and combined with the structural changes of the ATD Drag System results in a smoother drag from the initial hook up.

INFINITE ANTI REVERSE
Daiwa’s advanced system that limits rearward backplay handle movement to almost zero for solid hooksets with less shock to the reel. The result is the elimination of handle slap-back and the unwanted release of line.

MACHINE CUT HANDLE
Our new handle design is slimmer, more compact, and 50% lighter.

MAGSEALED-BEARINGS
MagSeal protection is no longer just for the main shaft and rotor of a reel with MagSealed Ball Bearings providing ultimate protection for the most at risk location such as the engine side plate and line roller.

MAGSEALED-BODY

Ultimate protection is delivered to the engine room of the reel with a magnetised oil seal located on the main shaft of the reel’s rotor shutting the door to the elements and unwanted intruders. Dust, water, and salt intrusion into the inner workings of a reel are a thing of the past with MagSeal.

MAGSEALED LINE ROLLER
One of the hardest working and exposed areas of a spin reel is provided with ultimate protection with a MagSealed line roller bearing shutting out the elements for optimum line roller protection, performance and longevity.

METAL BALL KNOB
Providing maximum contact between handle knob and hand, ball knobs are designed for optimal rotation balance, rotation, and functionality.

METAL ALLOY BODY
Rock solid in strength and performance, alloy is tailor made for Australian conditions and allows a reel to be created that is light, yet strong, and supremely rigid and highly corrosion resistant.

MONOCOQUE
A one-piece frame eliminates the use of traditional two-piece body & sideplate construction. A single piece body utilises a screw-in engine plate to house the main gear, reducing flex and twist under load creating a sealed mechanism. The elimination of the side plate has also allowed for a more compact body design. MQ technology not only makes reels stronger & better sealed, but also more compact.

PERFECT LINE STOPPER
Our new larger rectangular flexible clip that can be used from all line angles and from light to heavy lines.

ZAION ROTOR
Daiwa’s ‘Air Rotor’ technology combines with the famous Zaion material to create a strong yet lightweight rotor with flawless shape to increase reel sensitivity and rotational balance
